Following the signing of Geoffrey Kondogbia, Inter have further bolstered their ranks with the capture of Brazilian centre-back Miranda.
The former Atletico defender has returned from international duty at the Copa America and signed for the Serie A outfit after passing a medical.
The 30-year old was a key player as Diego Simeone's side won La Liga and reached the Champions League final in 2013/14, forming a formidable defensive partnership with Diego Godin.
However, Miranda saw his playing time restricted by the progress of youngster Gimenez last season. Despite making just 23 league appearances, no player in Spain's top tier made more last man tackles (4) in 2014/15.
