Roma have reached an agreement in principle worth an initial €20m (£17.7m) with Serie A rivals Sassuolo for the signature of Gregoire Defrel, reports Gianluca Di Marzio, via Football Italia.
Monchi has been in talks with Sassuolo about a move for Defrel and the Giallorossi will reportedly take the 26-year-old on an initial season-long loan deal before making the move permanent next summer.
Defrel has spent the last two years at Sassuolo but now appears on the verge of joining Roma as the Serie A giants look to bolster their offensive options in the wake of Mohamed Salah’s departure to Liverpool earlier in the window.
Of players that scored more than 10 Serie A goals last season, Defrel had the best conversion rate (27.9%).
