Mbappe puts Real Madrid on alert after requesting Monaco exit

Kylian Mbappe has told Monaco he wants to leave the Ligue 1 champions this summer with Real Madrid favourite to sign the striker, reports L’Equipe.

The France international enjoyed a stunning breakthrough campaign last season and is now one of the most sought after talents in world football.

Monaco have reportedly already turned down bids well in excess of £100m this summer but may now be forced to cash in on the teenager after Mbappe told the club of his intentions to leave.

Madrid have been heavily linked with a move for the 18-year-old all summer and are now expected to step up their interest, although could face stiff competition from Manchester City, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG will make Barcelona forward Neymar the most expensive player in the world when they trigger his £193m release clause and Mbappe will command a similar fee.

Leonardo Jardim’s side have already been gutted of nearly £150m worth of talent and could be set to double their transfer income with Mbappe nearing the exit door.

The French giants were hoping to extend Mbappe’s stay beyond 2019 when his current deal expires, but the teen is now looking for pastures new.

Of players that scored at least 15 goals in Europe’s top five leagues last season, only two players had a better conversion rate than Mbappe (28.8%).
