AS Roma have confirmed the signing of Patrik Schick from Sampdoria.
The Czech Republic international was heavily linked with a move to Juventus earlier in the year, but a switch to the Serie A champions fell through after the club opted against confirming the deal upon the discovery of a minor heart defect.
However, that did not deter Roma, who have signed Schick on loan, which will be made permanent next year.
“AS Roma are delighted to confirm the signing of forward Patrik Schick from Sampdoria,” a statement read on the club’s official website.
“The agreement includes an immediate loan fee of €5 million and, upon the completion of certain sporting objectives, an obligation to make the transfer permanent for a further €9m.
“The terms of the permanent transfer also include various performance-related bonuses, worth up to a maximum of €8m, based on the achievement of certain sporting objectives on the part of both the club and the player.
“Additionally, Sampdoria are entitled to a final payment of €20m in February 2020. Should Schick be sold prior to 1 February 2020, the clubs have agreed that Sampdoria will be entitled to 50% of the eventual transfer fee or €20m – whichever sum is the greater.
“Schick has signed a five-year contract with Roma that runs until 30 June 2022.”

On his move to Roma, Schick, 21, said: "I am very satisfied to be here and very happy. For me Roma is the ideal team.
"I am looking forward to training with the group and getting ready for the upcoming games."
Sporting director Monchi added: “Patrik is one of the brightest prospects in international football.
“We are all very satisfied to agree this deal especially because, despite being chased by a number of clubs, he has chosen us.”
