Manchester City veteran targets another five years

Yaya Toure insists he can continue playing for another five years as his Manchester City exit looms closer.

The 33-year-old has entered the final six months of his existing deal with City and it remains to be seen whether he will be handed a new deal after only coming back into favour with Pep Guardiola in recent months.

Guardiola exiled Toure from first-team contention at the start of the season and even omitted the midfielder from the Champions League squad for the group stages, a decision he has since reversed.

Since earning a shock recall to the first team in November, Toure has established himself as an integral player for Guardiola and the Ivorian insists he is not interested in winding down his career just yet.

“I can go on for another five years. You don’t believe me? Ok, let’s make a bet,” Toure told The Daily Mirror.

In the last six Premier League campaigns only Sergio Aguero (113) has scored more goals in the Premier League for City than Toure (52).
