Real Madrid goalkeeper on way to Leeds

Leeds United will boost their promotion bid by signing Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, claims The Daily Mail.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side moved five points clear at the top of the Championship after beating Derby 2-0 on Friday night and now the Leeds boss is focusing on strengthening his squad.

The Argentine has made signing a new goalkeeper a priority this month and the Championship flyers have also been linked with Southampton outcast Fraser Forster.

Bailey Peacock-Farrell has managed Leeds through 26 of their 27 league matches this season but Bielsa wants someone more dependable than the 22-year-old.

It has now emerged that Leeds will sign 32-year-old Casilla from Madrid after agreeing to buy out the veteran from the remaining 18 months of his contract with the European champions.

Casilla has not made a single appearance for Madrid this season following the arrival of Thibaut Courtois over the summer and has only ever been used sparingly.

The Spaniard has kept just eight clean sheets in 21 league appearances since the beginning of the 2016/17 campaign.
