Manchester United target agrees personal terms with Bayern Munich

RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano has agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich over a summer move, claims German outlet Bild.

Upamecano will only have 12 months left to run on his existing Leipzig contract this summer and does not want to renew with the club.

Several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, are interested in signing the highly rated Leipzig centre-back but Bayern are the frontrunners.

After a frustrating 2018/19 campaign, Upamecano has bounced back this season and emerged as one of the best centre-backs in Europe's top five leagues.

Leipzig are holding out for as much as €60m (£52.3m) for the 21-year-old but Bayern are hoping to pay much less than that for someone with one year left on their contract.

With transfer fees set to tumble as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, it is unclear what Leipzig will realistically get for Upamecano this summer.

Of recognised centre-backs in Europe's top five leagues this season, only Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk (7.40) has a better WhoScored rating than Upamecano (7.23).

Furthermore, of players aged 21 and under in Europe's top five leagues this season, Upamecano averages the most passes per game (72.7).
