Tottenham withdraw interest in Crystal Palace star Zaha
Tottenham will not be pursuing Wilfried Zaha after being deterred by Crystal Palace’s £100m asking price, claims the London Evening Standard.
Zaha has told Palace he wants to leave the club this summer in order to join a team that can offer Champions League football.
The Ivory Coast international has outgrown Palace’s ambitions and Roy Hodgson’s side are willing to let him leave.
Palace have reportedly slapped a £100m asking price on Zaha’s head and the 26-year-old is concerned he will be priced out of a move away.
Arsenal are understood to be lining up a move for the former Manchester United winger but their offer will ultimately be well short of Palace’s asking price.
Zaha has been linked with a move to Tottenham in recent years but Mauricio Pochettino’s side have no interest in signing him for Palace’s valuation.
Despite arguably developing into the best player outside the Premier League’s top-six sides, it’s unlikely any team will be willing to pay close to £100m for his services.
Zaha finished 2018/19 with 10 league goals in a Premier League campaign for the first time this season, while also registering five assists.
Furthermore, only Harry Kane (11) and Jamie Vardy (10) scored more Premier League away goals than Zaha (nine) this season.
