Bayern Munich boss rules out summer move for Tottenham target

Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes has ruled the German giants out of the running for Bordeaux starlet and Premier League target Malcom.

The Brazilian forward was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham, Manchester United and Arsenal in January after a dazzling first half to the season.

All three teams looked to have missed out on Malcom’s signature after it emerged Bayern were on the brink of agreeing a deal, but Heynckes has rubbished those reports.

“I have never seen him play,” he told a news conference, via the London Evening Standard. “Therefore, I am not able to give an opinion on him.

“But I don’t think there is interest here. He always gets put into the shopping window but nobody really goes after him.”

Bayern will need to strengthen their wide areas in the near future with both Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben coming to the end of their careers.

Douglas Costa appeared a natural solution to replace one of the aforementioned wingers but he was sold to Juventus last summer.

After a stunning start to the season that saw Malcom play a direct hand in nine goals in his first nine league appearances, the 21-year-old has only scored or assisted five goals in his subsequent 19 matches.

Nevertheless, only Neymar (12), Nabil Fekir (11), Florian Thauvin (10) and Kylian Mbappe (7) have won the WhoScored Man of the Match award more times than Malcom (6) in Ligue 1 this season.
