Southampton ready to sack Pellegrino

Southampton are prepared to sack Mauricio Pellegrino at the end of the season if he steers the club clear of relegation, claims The Daily Mirror.

Pellegrino was appointed Southampton manager last summer but has really struggled to get going in the Premier League.

Southampton are currently one point above the bottom three but it would be a real shock if they dropped down to the Championship.

Pellegrino has particularly struggled to bring the best out of Southampton’s creative players and looks destined to lose his job at the end of the season.

Southampton sacked Claude Puel last summer after just one season at the club and look set to pull the trigger once again, with Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic and Oestersunds head coach Graham Potter in the frame to replace the 46-year-old.

The Saints (11) have only lost one game more than sixth-place Arsenal (10), but they have really struggled to turn draws into wins.

In fact, no team in Europe’s top five leagues have drawn more games than Southampton this season (13).
