Manchester United may have sold Memphis Depay to Lyon in January but Jose Mourinho’s side could be about to take a player from the French giants after deploying scouts to watch teenage midfielder Lucas Tousart, reports The Daily Mirror.
The Premier League giants had scouts in attendance to watch Tousart in Lyon’s 4-2 win over Roma in the Europa League last week as they seek to bolster their midfield options in the summer.
Tousart’s current deal is due to expire in the summer of 2019 and Lyon have already reportedly turned down a bid of £5m from Palermo for his services in the past.
The Lyon defensive midfielder has already been compared to French legend Didier Deschamps by local press and United will certainly be interested in bringing the teenager to Old Trafford if he is to develop into anything like the current France national team manager.
Only Nicolas Nkoulou (2.9) is winning more aerial duels per game in Ligue 1 for Lyon this season than Tousart (2.8).
