Manchester United youngster prepared to leave permanently

Andreas Pereira will look to secure a permanent move away from Manchester United this summer if he doesn’t get assurances about first-team football next season.

The 22-year-old has spent the season on loan at Valencia after going against Mourinho’s advice and forcing through a move away from Old Trafford last summer.

Pereira is highly rated at United but has struggled to force his way into the reckoning under Mourinho and may have missed his opportunity after going on loan.

United are plotting another summer of wholesale changes and Pereira is ready to leave his boyhood club in search of regular playing time if he does not feature prominently in Mourinho’s plans.

“The manager will see me in a different light if I come back from Valencia with a good report card,” he told Sport/Foot, via The Daily Telegraph.

“I’ll then change status more easily than if I continued to simply try and get a break as a homegrown talent.

“The Manchester United technical staff follow me closely. We speak on the phone regularly or we send each other messages on Whatsapp. I also communicate with Mourinho.

“I dreamed of playing for Manchester United, and I still do. I’m still under contract there. The staff now see that I can hold my spot at Valencia, that I’m at the required level.

“My future at Valencia depends on Manchester United. All the options remain open, but I don’t want to be loaned again. I’ve shown what I can do.

“This summer, I want clarity. I want to be able to stay at a club for two to three years in order to build something.”

Despite Pereira’s comments, he has only managed to start 12 league matches this season and has made a further 10 appearances from the bench.

The Valencia No.11 has only managed one goal and three assists in the league this season and is the lowest WhoScored rated (10+ apps) player at the club (6.56).
