Manchester United end interest in Alex Sandro

Manchester United are no longer interested in signing Juventus left-back Alex Sandro, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Jose Mourinho wants to sign a new left-back this summer and Sandro emerged as a top transfer target at the start of the year.

The Brazil international is considering his future at Juventus but Max Allegri’s side are determined to keep the 27-year-old.

Chelsea failed in their attempts to prise Sandro away from the Serie A champions 12 months ago before signing Roma’s Emerson in January.

United were expected to make Sandro one of several high profile signings this summer but the Red Devils are no longer targeting the Juventus ace.

Mourinho has already spent in excess of £60m on Fred and Diogo Dalot this summer and will prioritise the remainder of his transfer budget on a new striker and centre-back.

The Premier League giants are keeping their options open, but will only move for a new left-back if a high profile name becomes available.

In the last two Serie A campaigns, only Paulo Dybala (7.62) has garnered a higher WhoScored rating for Juventus than Sandro (7.55).
