Everton interested in shock move for Chelsea outcast
Everton are interested in signing Chelsea striker Diego Costa on a loan, reports The Daily Mirror.
Ronald Koeman confirmed earlier in the week that he would consider a late move for the Chelsea outcast, but it’s a decision that has divided opinions behind the scenes at Goodison Park.
The Everton manager is desperate to sign another striker before the transfer window closes at the end of the month and has finally given up on Arsenal frontman Olivier Giroud.
Costa is free to leave Chelsea this summer but only wants to return to Atletico Madrid, who are working on a deal with Antonio Conte’s side.
However, Atletico are currently serving a transfer ban and cannot register new players until January, which has opened up the door to Costa playing elsewhere until the new year.
Reports now suggest Koeman is ready to move for the Spain international on a loan deal, which could even be for just six months if the 28-year-old secures a return to Atletico.
Costa has played an important role in two title-winning campaigns in three full seasons at the club and has scored more league goals than any other Chelsea player in that time (52).
