Monaco set to beat Chelsea and Tottenham in race for Belgian

Ligue 1 side Monaco look set to beat Premier League rivals Chelsea and Tottenham in the race to sign Anderlecht teenage sensation Youri Tielemans, according to French publication L’Equipe.

The 19-year-old has established himself as one of the hottest midfield talents on the continent, with a number of stunning strikes endearing himself to potential targets.

A Premier League switch was mooted, with Chelsea and Tottenham favourites to secure his signature, while Liverpool and Atletico Madrid have linked with a move for the Belgian, but Monaco look to have stolen a march on their English counterparts in a bid to sign the Anderlecht ace.

Tielemans, who made his senior debut for Belgium in November, could come in as a replacement for the outgoing Tiemoue Bakayoko, with the Frenchman widely expected to depart for Chelsea or Manchester United at the end of the season.

Tielemans has thrived in the Europa League this term having bagged three goals - a tally bettered only Zenit’s Giuliano (8) and teammate Nicolae Stanciu (4) of all central midfielders - to return a WhoScored rating of 7.41.
