Tottenham eye move for PSV sensation

Tottenham are closing in on the capture of PSV star Steven Bergwijn, reports Dutch publication De Telegraaf.

The young winger has been left out of PSV's squad to face FC Twente this afternoon as rumours of a £30m transfer gather momentum.

Leicester were linked with a move for Bergwijn last week, but Tottenham have since moved to the front of the queue following discussions between the two clubs in recent days.

The 22-year-old came close to leaving PSV for Sevilla last summer, however the LaLiga side failed to agree a fee with the Eredivisie outfit for Bergwijn.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is a fan of Bergwijn's versatility, with the youngster capable of playing on the wings or through the middle.

And Bergwijn has impressed for the 24-time Eredivisie champions, scoring five and laying on 10 assists in the top tier of Dutch football this season.

It's believed Christian Eriksen's move to Inter will signal a domino effect that will see Spurs bring in new faces before the transfer deadline.

Eriksen wasn't part of the 18-man squad that was held to a 1-1 draw with Southampton on Saturday, forcing another FA Cup replay for Spurs.
