Chelsea are still hopeful of signing Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon but are also weighing up a move for Paris Saint-Germain veteran Salvator Sirigu, reports The Daily Telegraph.
Antonio Conte is looking to sign a new understudy to Thiabut Courtois with Asmir Begovic keen to join Bournemouth in search of regular first-team football but completing a deal has proved harder than imagined.
Chelsea have already had a £3m bid for Celtic’s No.1 goalkeeper rejected and have been told that the Scotland international is not for sale this month despite the fact the former Sunderland shot-stopper wants to make the move to Stamford Bridge.
With the January transfer window set to close at 23:00 on Tuesday, Chelsea are not in a position that can engage in lengthy transfer talks and that has forced the Premier League leaders to re-think their transfer plan, with Sirigu now on their radar.
The 30-year-old has spent the season on loan from PSG at Sevilla but has spent the majority of the season sat on the bench and could now be set to reunite with Conte at Chelsea having been named in the manager’s Italy squad for Euro 2016.
Sirigu hasn’t featured for Sevilla since being sent off in his second appearance for the club back in September (vs Athletic Club).
