Rising Championship star signs new deal

Aston Villa have announced rising Championship star Keinan Davis has put pen to paper on an improved two-and-a-half-year deal running until 2020.

The Championship giants have been desperate to resolve Davis’ long-term future following his whirlwind start to the season.

There was a fear that Villa would fail to convince Davis to commit his future to the club after initially failing to match his wage demands.

With contract talks stalling, Premier League sides were beginning to take an interest in his future, but now Villa have made a significant breakthrough.

“It’s a great feeling to have signed a new contract,” he told the club’s official website. “This is another milestone for me this season – I had my first start and my full league debut and then an international call-up and this is another one.

“The hard work continues, now. I’ve got to keep working and reach that next milestone.”

Davis has started 13 of Villa’s 16 league matches this season and is now above £12m signing Scott Hogan in the pecking order under Steve Bruce.

Of strikers that have attempted at least 20 dribbles in the Championship this season, Davis boasts the best success rate (81%).
