Juventus midfielder agrees new deal

Juventus have agreed a new five-year deal with Rodrigo Bentancur running until the summer of 2024, claims Gianluca Di Marzio.

Bentancur still has three years left to run on his existing deal but Juventus have moved to secure the 21-year-old’s long-term future.

The Uruguay international is one of the best young midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues and will play a prominent part in Juventus’ success in the coming years.

Juventus are planning to bolster their midfield options this summer and have even been linked with a move to re-sign Paul Pogba.

The Old Lady have made it clear to Manchester United they are interested in the 2018 World Cup winner.

Miralem Pjanic’s future at Juventus is unclear but Bentancur will be in Turin for the years to come.

Of players aged 21 and under that made at least six appearances in the Champions League last season, Bentancur ranked fifth for tackles per game (2.1).
