Borussia Dortmund have made their third signing in the space of 24 hours after announcing the arrival of Bayer Leverkusen ace Julian Brandt.
The 2018/19 campaign for Dortmund only finished at the weekend but Lucien Favre’s side have wasted no time building for next season to push Bayern Munich for the title once again.
Dortmund signed Nico Schulz from Hoffenheim on Tuesday and have bolstered their offensive options today by recruiting Thorgan Hazard from Gladbach and Brandt from Leverkusen.
Christian Pulisic has left Dortmund to join Chelsea in a deal worth £58m and the Bundesliga outfit have remarkably spent less money combined to sign Hazard and Brandt.
The latter is their latest acquisition and comes as a huge blow to both Liverpool and Tottenham, who have both been heavily linked with a move for the Germany international.
Brandt has been in sensational form for Leverkusen since they appointed former Dortmund manager Peter Bosz in December, finishing the campaign as one of the most in-form players in the league.
The 23-year-old, who had a reported €25m release clause, finished the campaign with seven goals and 11 assists in the league, though 14 of those came under Bosz. Brandt has put pen to paper on a five-year deal keeping him at Dortmund until the summer of 2024.
Brandt’s arrival may well give Manchester United renewed hope in their pursuit of Jadon Sancho, as the German could now act as cover for the teenager if he departs in a £100m move this summer.
Nevertheless, Brandt registered more key passes than any other player in the Bundesliga this season (86) and it also means four of the top eight players for chances created in the division now play for Dortmund.
