Sunderland have rejected an offer from Besiktas for out of favour winger Jeremain Lens, reports Sky Sports.
Lens is free to leave Sunderland this summer after failing to make any significant impression in England after joining from Dynamo Kiev in an £11m deal in 2015.
The Netherlands international spent last season on loan at Fenerbahce and now their rivals, Besiktas, want to bring him back to Turkey for next summer.
Simon Grayson’s side are actively seeking offers for the 29-year-old but Besiktas’ offer fell well short of their own valuation and it’s unlikely they will be able to afford a permanent deal.
Only Wesley Sneijder (15) and Ricardo Quaresema (13) provided more assists than Lens (11) in the Turkish Super Lig last season, while only Bruma (7.69) secured a higher WhoScored rating (Lens – 7.49).
