Carvalho reveals dream move

Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho has revealed his dream is to emulate Thierry Henry and play for Arsenal in the future.

Carvalho has been linked with a move to the Emirates in each of the last three years and billed as the solution to their perceived weak midfield.

The 23-year-old was particularly impressive during the European U21 Championships with Portugal over the summer and has now revealed his intentions for the future.

“I am where I want to be right now, which is Sporting. I dream of winning the Primeira Liga here,” Carvalho told Portuguese newspapers A Bola.

“But if I ever do leave then it’s a sign that my work here was well done. I prefer not to say too much, but there is a club which I’ve always been fond of: Arsenal. Because of Thierry Henry, a player with whom I have always enjoyed watching.

“Maybe this is why I look with so much affection to the Premier League.”

Carvalho reveals dream move

Carvalho was an integral part of the Portugal team that made it all the way to the final of the Euro U21 Championships over the summer. In fact, of players to have made at least four appearances in the tournament, only Isaac Thelin (7.4) won more aerial duels per game than Carvalho (4).
