West Ham hold talks over Marseille midfielder

West Ham are keen on Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson after being snubbed by Andre Gomes, claims Sky Sports.

The Hammers bid in excess of £20m for Barcelona midfielder Gomes but the Portugal international only wants to join Everton.

Manuel Pellegrini is keen to bolster his midfield options for the new season and has now turned his attentions to Sanson.

Marseille are open to Sanson’s departure this summer after failing to secure Champions League football for next season.

The Ligue 1 outfit value Sanson at €35m (£31.2m) after signing the 24-year-old for €12m (£10.7m) from Montpellier in January 2017.

West Ham have a good relationship with Marseille after their dealings for Dimitri Payet but face competition for Sanson from Premier League rivals Wolves.

Sanson played a direct hand in eight league goals in 33 league matches for Marseille last season.
