Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred has revealed he would jump at the chance to join Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola has earmarked Fred as a potential long-term replacement for Fernandinho after watching the midfielder first hand in the Champions League group stage this season.
Fred has also been linked with a move to Manchester United this season but it would seem the 24-year-old is more excited about the prospect of linking up with Guardiola.
“A great coach like Guardiola and a great team like City. For sure, I would grow a lot with them. I have a lot to grow,” Fred told Globo Esporte.
“For me it was well received, even more so on Christmas Eve. Now I must continue to do my work at Shakhtar, and to be seen a lot by the whole world.
“England is the most competitive league in the world, I want to play there. It could suit me well. It would be important to play in England with one of the great managers. It’s a dream that I have.
“I have not received [a call from Guardiola] yet. I’m just waiting. Go now because he will call me straight away,” he joked.
Fred was part of the Shakhtar side that inflicted City's only defeat of the season when the Ukranian side ran out 2-1 winners at the start of December.
Of the 105 players that have attempted at least 10 dribbles in the Champions League this season, Fred has the best success rate (95.2%).
