Chelsea have confirmed Tiemoue Bakayoko has returned to Monaco on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy.
The Ligue 1 outfit sold Bakayoko to Chelsea in a £40m deal two years ago but the France international has endured a nightmare spell in west London.
Bakayoko failed to make any serious impression during his first season at the club after struggling to overcome a knee injury.
Chelsea offloaded 25-year-old to AC Milan on loan for the 2018/19 campaign and he has now secured a return to Monaco after being deemed surplus to requirements by Frank Lampard.
Bakayoko played an integral part in Monaco’s title-winning campaign in 2016/17 and the Principality Club can make his switch permanent for a reported €35m (£31.6m).
Of players that attempted at least 50 dribbles in Serie A last season, only Ismael Bennacer (77.6%) and Soualiho Meite (73.2%) had a better success rate than Bakayoko (72.1%).
