Which player topped the rankings in the Champions League this week?

Arsenal’s heroic victory over Bayern Munich was the pick of the results from the Champions League this week, but there were no spots for any of Arsene Wenger’s men this time around. In fact, there wasn't any players from the Premier League as Manchester United and Chelsea both toiled on their travels and Manchester City left it late to snatch all three points at home to La Liga strugglers Sevilla.

Moreover, there was also no place for an injured Lionel Messi and a misfiring Cristiano Ronaldo, who have become regular fixtures in the Champions League Team of the Week in seasons gone by. Instead, it was Messi’s Barcelona teammate Neymar that once again filled the void left by the world’s best player, as he garnered the highest WhoScored rating of the week (9.85).

Since Messi injured his knee against Las Palmas at the end of September, Neymar has directly contributed to eight goals from the resulting four matches in all competitions, having only played a hand in three goals in the Barcelona’s first five matches of the season.

It was Neymar’s creativity that unlocked the BATE Borisov defence for both goals in a 2-0 win on Tuesday evening. Added to his two assists, the Brazil international also created at least five more chances (8), at least five more dribbles (7) and had two more shots (5) than any other player on display at the Borisov Arena.
