Leicester complete second raid of Hull

Leicester have announced they have signed Hull goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic from Hull for an undisclosed fee.

Craig Shakespeare’s side have been on the market for a new goalkeeper since Ron-Robert Zieler secured a return to Germany earlier this month.

Jakupovic emerged as Hull’s first choice goalkeeper in the Premier League last season and will now provide Kasper Schmeichel with competition for the No.1 jersey at the King Power Stadium after penning a three-year deal.

“I’m very happy and excited that the deal is finally done,” he told Leicester’s official website. “I’m very excited to be part of something special here and I can’t wait for the first game.

“I knew from the beginning that it will be difficult for myself because Kasper is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.

“I’m going to fight and I’m here to push. A healthy competition is always good and that’s only a positive thing. For sure, I’ll wait for my chance but I am here and I’m very excited.”

Leicester have already raided Hull this summer for centre-back Harry Maguire and have now returned to the Championship outfit for the 32-year-old, who will now fly out to Hong Kong to meet the rest of the Leicester squad on their pre-season tour.

In the Premier League last season no goalkeeper saved more penalties than Jakupovic (2).
