Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina has revealed he would be happy to leave the club and join Turkish giants Fenerbahce at the end of the season.
Ospina, 28, has spent the three years with Arsenal after joining the club from French side Nice in 2014 but the majority of that time has been spent as the club’s No.2 behind Petr Cech.
The Colombia international has been frustrated at a lack of game time this season, only limited to starts in this season’s Champions League, and now the Arsenal shot-stopper has revealed he would like to join Fenerbahce in the summer with the club’s blessing.
“Istanbul may be a new adventure and motivation for me,” Ospina told Turkish outlet Milliyet, via The Sun. “If my club are persuaded, it’s okay for me.”
Arsenal do not have to sell Ospina this summer, as his contract is not due to expire until 2019, but it would seem unlikely that he would be at the club all the time and remain as their back-up goalkeeper.
While Ospina continues to get disgruntled by a lack of game time, he could be called into action this weekend if he can recover from an injury that forced him to miss Arsenal’s 3-0 win over West Ham in midweek.
With Petr Cech sidelined, Emiliano Martinez was required to play in goal against the Hammers with Opsina also injured but he would presumably return to the starting XI if he can get back to full fitness, where a run in the first-team would present itself.
Ospina has only kept four clean sheets in 11 games in all competitions for Arsenal this season.
