Fernandes passes Manchester United medical and completes move
Manchester United have officially completed a deal for Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes, the Premier League outfit has announced.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side confirmed an agreement with Sporting on Wednesday evening before Fernandes arrived in England later that night.
Fernandes completed his United medical on Thursday and also agreed personal terms to a five-and-a-half-year deal with an option to a further 12 months.
The 25-year-old is expected to make his United debut in Saturday's match against Wolves, as Solskjaer looks to gatecrash the top four.
United have paid an initial £46.6m fee for the Portugal international plus a further £21.6m in performance related add-ons.
Talks between United and Sporting were at the point of collapse earlier this month but the Red Devils have managed to get a deal over the line for one of their long-term targets.
Solskjaer will hope Fernandes can add goals and assists to United's midfield, having done so superbly for Sporting in the last two years.
In fact, Fernandes remarkably played a direct hand in 48 goals in 50 league appearances for Sporting from the beginning of last season (28 goals, 20 assists).
