Barkley set for Chelsea medical

Everton midfielder Ross Barkley will undergo his Chelsea medical on Friday, reports The Times.

Chelsea have agreed a £15m deal with Everton and the transfer is now expected to go through before the end of the weekend.

Barkley is in the final six months of his existing Everton deal and Antonio Conte’s side have successfully beaten Tottenham to his signature.

Spurs have pulled out of the race as they were unwilling to pay £15m for someone that would potentially cost nothing at the end of the season.

Chelsea wanted to sign Barkley in the summer but the England international pulled out of a deal with Conte’s side as he wanted more time to consider his future.

As it happens, Barkley suffered a serious hamstring injury soon after and has only just returned to full fitness.

Despite not featuring at all this season, Barkley has created more goalscoring chances in the league than any Everton player since August 2016 (84).
