Arter pens new Bournemouth deal

Bournemouth have announced Harry Arter has signed a new three-year deal keeping him at the club until 2019.

Arter still had two years left to run on his previous deal but was instrumental in Bournemouth’s successful bid to avoid relegation last season and has been rewarded for his form.

The 26-year-old was due to travel with the Republic of Ireland squad for the Euros this summer before injury ruled him out of contention for Martin O’Neil’s squad.

“We’re delighted to secure Harry’s long term future at the club,” Bournemouth’s chief executive Neill Blake told the club’s website.

“Harry has been on every step of the journey and he has been an important figure in our rise through the leagues.

“He has made over 200 appearances for the club and has also become an international footballer, so we’re really pleased to give Harry this new deal.”

Only Simon Francis (2.8) completed more tackles per game in the Premier League of all Bournemouth players last season than Arter (2.7).
