Borussia Dortmund youngster rules out Liverpool switch

Christian Pulisic has ruled out a move to Liverpool and pledged his commitment to Borussia Dortmund for the upcoming season.

The United States international, who has previously confessed to supporting Manchester United growing up, has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool in the past and those links have remerged with doubts over Philippe Coutinho’s future.

Barcelona are expected to sign Coutinho before the end of the month and Jurgen Klopp will need to bring in at least one replacement for the Liverpool No.10, with Pulisic on their list of potential targets.

However, the 18-year-old, who has been a revelation at Dortmund since breaking into the first team in the 2015/16 campaign, has ruled out leaving the Bundesliga giants.

“Yes, I read that too,” he told Bild when asked about Liverpool’s interest, via The Daily Mail. “What more can I say? I concentrate fully on the start of the season.

“I’m very happy in Dortmund. To be clear and concise: I do not think about changing clubs. At the beginning of the year I finally extended my contract until 2020.

“Last season, I established myself in Dortmund with a European top club, which was always my dream as a little boy.”

Pulisic made 29 appearances in the Bundesliga last season, playing a direct hand in nine goals in that time (three goals, six assists).

However, only 15 of those matches came as a starter but he is expected more game time this season under new manager Peter Bosz, who has a track record of giving youth a chance.

The Dortmund youngster provided more assists (6) than any other teenager in Europe’s top five leagues last season.
