Casillas excited by Porto, claims agent

The agent of Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas says the 34-year-old is "enthusiastic" over a potential move to Porto.

Casillas is widely expected to leave the La Liga giants this summer after 25 years of service, with David De Gea's arrival as his successor thought to be imminent.

The Spain international has been linked with a number of European clubs this summer, but Porto have emerged as frontrunners for his signature, with Casillas open to the venture.

"An offer from Porto exists and Casillas is enthusiastic with that possibility," the player’s agent Carlo Cutropia told Spanish newspaper Marca.

"Now we have to wait to see what Real Madrid say."

Casillas’ severance package remains the sticking point in the move. The veteran keeper still has two years left to run on his current deal, but Madrid are hoping to reach an arrangement that would allow the veteran keeper to walk away on a free transfer.

However, the move is made complicated by the fact Porto are only willing to pay half of his net €6.5m salary, meaning Real would have to subsidise some of his wages for him to leave.

The 34-year-old's position at Real Madrid has been under threat ever since Jose Mourinho decided to drop the player in the 2013/14 campaign, with the likes of Diego Lopez and Keylor Navas stepping in between the sticks. Casillas has won every major trophy available to him in the game, but his Real Madrid career appears to be coming to a close as so many others before him have.
