No offers for Chelsea target Belotti, says Torino president

Torino president Urbano Cairo insists there have been no fresh offers for star striker Andrea Belotti amid reported interest from Premier League champions Chelsea.

Belotti has been heavily linked with a move away from the Serie A side all summer following a remarkable league campaign and Torino have already turned down offers from AC Milan.

Manchester United were also interested in the Italy international but appear to have cooled their pursuit following the arrival of Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, while Chelsea have now been forced to reconsider their options as a result of that transfer.

Antonio Conte’s side are now reportedly interested in Belotti, as well as Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata, but Torino’s president insists there have been no fresh bids, while also dismissing the likelihood of Belotti joining a rival Serie A side.

“He has a €100m (£88.9m) release clause [for foreign sides],” Cairo reiterated to Sky, via Football Italia. “For now no-one has come in for him. I’m glad he’s with us and I hope he can stay.

“I want to understand his intentions, I’m happy for him to stay, not least because we’ve given up interesting options which didn’t reach reach the €100m clause.

“They weren’t real offers, but there were contacts. I don’t want to imagine a Toro without Il Gallo. The clause is there, but we have to understand what he thinks because it’s important for a player to stay with the desire to do well.

“I want to talk to him, I want confirmation. I don’t think it’s possible to sell in Italy, where there isn’t even the clause. Andrea is an extraordinary lad, he has undeniable qualities.”

Despite the fact Torino finished in ninth place last season, only Edin Dzeko (29) and Dries Mertens (28) scored more times in Serie A than Belotti (26).
