Toni Kroos has sensationally suggested he is now happy with his positioning under new Real Madrid head coach Julen Lopetegui.
Madrid have made a poor start to the season and Lopetegui is already under pressure to save his job.
The reigning European champions are only two points off first but languish down in fifth having lost two of their first eight league games.
Kroos has been positioned deeper under Lopetegui and the Germany international has hinted he is unhappy with the role he is being asked to carry out.
“I like playing deeper, but I’m not Casemiro,” The Daily Mail quote Kroos as saying during the international break.
Only Chelsea midfielder Jorginho (106.6) averages more passes per league game than Kroos (97.7) in Europe’s top five leagues this season. Despite attempting a huge amount of passes, Kroos has incredibly completed 94.4% of them.
