Watford have announced the signing of Marvin Zeegelaar from Liga NOS side Sporting Club on a four-year deal.
Marco Silva was keen to bolster his left-back options after Jose Holebas was forced to miss the 0-0 home draw with Brighton through suspension at the weekend.
Zeegelaar, 27, made 18 league starts for the Liga NOS giants last season, but was made available for transfer by head coach Jorge Jesus.
“Watford FC is delighted to confirm the signing of defender Marvin Zeegelaar from Sporting Lisbon on a four-year deal,” a statement read on the club’s official website.
“The left-back made 37 appearances for the 18-time Portuguese champions during 2016-17, including five in the UEFA Champions League.
“The Dutchman, who came through the ranks at Ajax Amsterdam, will wear the number 22 shirt for the Hornets.”
Zeegelaar becomes the club’s 11th summer signing and has set the Hornets back a rumoured £2.7m as Silva looks to maintain their respectable start to the season.
