Manchester United still want Monaco midfielder after Matic arrival

Manchester United still want to sign Monaco midfielder Fabinho even after they wrap up a deal to bring Nemanja Matic to Old Trafford from Chelsea, reports The Independent.

Jose Mourinho’s side are expected to complete a £40m deal for Matic after Chelsea announce the arrival of Monaco ace Tiemoue Bakayoko, but the United manager still wants to bolster his options in midfield.

There have been mixed reports whether United are even interested in signing Fabinho but the versatile midfielder, who can also play at right-back, has been vocal in his admiration of the Premier League giants in the past.

According to fresh claims, United will make a move for the 23-year-old even after the arrival of Matic, as Monaco continue to have their squad picked apart by their European rivals.

Fabinho emerged as a really key player for Monaco last season during their league title-winning campaign after being moved into midfield on a permanent basis, illustrated by the fact he finished the year as the club's highest rated player in Ligue 1 (7.51).

Not only that, but in the last two seasons Fabinho has converted more penalties than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues (13).
