Team News: Injury boost for Arsenal ahead of Brighton clash

As they prepare for today’s early kick-off at the Amex Stadium, Arsene Wenger has been boosted by the availability of Jack Wilshere, who trained on Saturday for the first time following an ankle injury that saw him miss the midweek clash with Manchester City.

Santi Cazorla remains a long term absentee and is joined on the sidelines by Nacho Monreal and Alexandre Lacazette, with the only real question mark surrounding how the visitors will line-up in midfield.

Given his injury problems Wilshere may not be rushed straight back into the starting XI, although a change is likely following a second successive 3-0 defeat to the league leaders on Thursday.

Alex Iwobi will hope to replace Danny Welbeck from the latest of those defeats having been on the scoresheet in the reverse fixture, though Mohamed Elneny could also be called upon in a move that may free up Aaron Ramsey further forward.

Arsenal are one of only two sides (along with Everton) to have lost all of their away games in the Premier League in 2018.

The hosts are close to full strength by comparison, only missing Steve Sidwell and Jiri Skalak, who would unlikely have played any part regardless.
