Wolves are considering a move for Sporting Club midfielder Joao Palhinha as they seek to bolster their midfield, reports The Daily Mirror.
The 24-year-old is currently on loan at Liga NOS rivals Braga and he twice came up against the Premier League side in the Europa League group stages earlier this season.
Despite impressing for Braga this term, Sporting are open to selling Palhinha and Wolves are ready to launch a bid for the midfielder, who has an £18m release clause in his contract.
However, Wolves are confident they can negotiate that fee down due to the Coronavirus pandemic and while he had been expected to return to Sporting this summer, the Portuguese side are willing to listen to offers for the player.
Palhinha moved to Braga on a two-year loan in 2018 having struggled to break into the Sporting first team.
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has ample options in midfield, but the versatility of the personnel at his disposal means Palhinha would be a welcome addition to his squad.
