Manchester United striker Lukaku completes Inter transfer
Inter have announced the arrival of Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku has been looking to secure a move to Inter since the end of last season after dropping down the pecking order at United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
United have finally sanctioned Lukaku’s departure after agreeing a deal worth up to £73.9m with their Italian counterparts, in which Everton are entitled to £5m of the sale.
Lukaku, who stayed away from United training all week in order to push through a move away, was greeted by around 500 Inter fans upon his arrival in Milan on Wednesday evening.
Conte’s desire to work with Lukaku has been two years in the making after missing out on his signature during his time as Chelsea manager.
Lukaku hailed Conte as the best manager in the world at the start of the summer and will now replace Mauro Icardi as Inter’s first-choice striker for next season.
The Belgium international scored more Premier League goals than any other United player (28) during his two years at the club but didn’t net against a single top half team in the competition last term.
