Bayern Munich name new long-term manager

Bayern Munich have confirmed Hansi Flick has put pen to paper on a three-year deal until the summer of 2023.

The Bundsliga outfit promoted Flick to take interim charge of Bayern following Niko Kovac's sacking in December.

It was thought Flick would warm the seat until a number name manager like Mauricio Pochettino or Arsene Wenger was appointed.

However, Flick quickly made a positive impression at the club and was handed the role on a deal until the end of the season just before Christmas.

Flick has successfully got Bayern back to the top of the Bundesliga and now the club have rewarded the 55-year-old with a three-year deal.

"FC Bayern and Hansi Flick are extending their cooperation," a statement read on the club's official website.

"As a result of positive talks in a spirit of good faith, chariman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, board member Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic have agreed a contract extension with the head cpach until 30 June 2023."

Flick has overseen 18 wins from his first 21 matches in charge in all competitions and Bayern average 3.2 goals per game in that time.
