Newcastle and Crystal Palace battling for £15m-rated England international
Newcastle and Crystal Palace will lock horns for the signature of £15m-rated Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton this summer, reports The Sun.
Heaton has enjoyed another sublime season for the Clarets and has firmly established himself as one of Gareth Southgate’s three England goalkeepers at the same time.
His performances for Burnley have not gone unnoticed by fellow Premier League clubs, with Palace and Newcastle keen to make Heaton their new No.1 goalkeeper next season.
Burnley were already bracing themselves for summer interest in Michael Keane and now they could face the prospect of losing another one of their star man, with a £15m move mooted for the 31-year-old goalkeeper.
Rafa Benitez wants to address his goalkeeping situation before Newcastle return to the Premier League next season, while Palace manager Sam Allardyce is also keen to sign an upgrade on Wayne Hennessey following Steve Mandanda’s failed stint at the club.
Heaton has made at least 19 more saves than any other goalkeeper in the Premier League this season.
