West Ham have £10m bid for Championship striker rejected

West Ham have failed with an opening £10m bid for Brentford striker Scott Hogan with the Championship outfit demanding £15m for their star striker, reports The Daily Mail.

Brentford are holding out for at least £15m for the 24-year-old with a 30 per cent sell-on fee due to his former club Rochdale.

The Hammers are determined to sign a new striker this month after cutting short Simone Zaza’s loan deal with Juventus and have already had a £6m bid for former striker Jermain Defoe rejected by Premier League rivals Sunderland.

Slaven Bilic’s side are not the only club interested in Hogan’s services, with German side RB Leipzig also understood to be monitoring his progress this season.

Hogan, who joined Brentford from Rochdale in 2014, has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular for The Bees despite boasting a phenomenal goal record.

The English striker scored seven goals in just 172 minutes of league action last season, and has managed to force his way into contention this season, where he has found the net 14 times in 25 matches.

In fact, of players to have scored more than 10 goals in the Championship since the start of last season only Dwight Gayle (1 every 90.6 mins) has required fewer minutes per goal than Hogan (1 every 115.2 mins).
