Juventus director Beppe Marotta has confirmed Simone Zaza will leave the Serie A champions this summer.
Zaza, 25, was on the verge of joining Wolfsburg before they made a late swoop for Mario Gomez but the Italy international is still up for sale.
“We spoke to Zaza. The transfer is not a punishment, but he would undoubtedly find more space elsewhere,” Marotta told Mediaset Premium, via Football Italia.
“There was the Wolfsburg idea, but it all fell apart. Over the final 10 days of the transfer window, we’ve got all the time to find him a new club.”
Zaza struggled to find a place in the starting XI last season and Gonzalo Higuain’s arrival has only seen him drop down the pecking order more. He scored five goals in 19 league appearances last term, although 14 of those came as a substitute.
