Bayern Munich could sell midfielder after just one season

Bayern Munich are willing to sell Euro 2016 winner Renato Sanches after just one season at the club in order to fund a move for Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka, reports Kicker, via Get German Football.

Sanches, 19, snubbed Manchester United to join Bayern in a blockbuster deal worth an initial £27.5m last summer but the former Benfica starlet has failed to make an impression at the club this season.

The teenager was voted the best young player at Euro 2016 after playing an integral part in Portugal’s success but his progress has stagnated under Carlo Ancelotti and now he could be on the move already.

Bayern aren’t actively looking to sell the box-to-box midfielder but would be open to a transfer if someone comes in with the right offer this summer, although they would want to recoup all of their original investment.

Sanches has only started six Bundesliga matches for Bayern this season and is their lowest rated outfielder (6.43).

With that money, the Bundesliga champions would look to fund a move for Goretzka, who is one of the most promising young midfielders in Germany.

The 22-year-old has spent his entire professional career with Schalke and has been tipped for a big career, although that could be away from his boyhood club given their constant struggles in the league.

In the last two Bundesliga campaigns, Goretzka has completed more tackles and interceptions combined than any other Schalke teammate (274).
