Aston Villa blow in pursuit of Chelsea striker

Tammy Abraham will declined any offers of a season-long loan move to fight for his place at Chelsea, claims The Daily Mirror.

The 20-year-old is a product of Chelsea’s fabled youth academy but has struggled to break into the first-team at Stamford Bridge since making his debut in May 2016.

Abraham has spent the last two years out on loan and Aston Villa were keen on handing the England international regular playing time in the Championship this season.

Villa have already snapped up two loan signings in the last week, convincing Yannick Bolasie to drop down from the Premier League and hoped Abraham would follow suit before the end of the month.

Abraham is yet to feature in the Premier League this season but is Chelsea’s third-choice striker as things stand following the departure of Michy Batshuayi earlier this month.

Maurizio Sarri has already declared he wants Abraham to remain at the club and the youngster is set to bow to his managers wishes and fight for his place at Stamford Bridge.

Abraham got his first taste of regular playing time in the Premier League last season with Swansea but failed to make any serious impact at the club, as they were relegated.

He scored 23 goals for Bristol City in the Championship during the 2016/17 campaign but only managed to net five times in 31 Premier League appearances last term.
