Leicester starlet wants more game time

Leicester winger Demarai Gray has revealed he is frustrated by a lack of game time at the club but has vowed to force his way into Craig Shakespeare’s plans.

Gray was on the scoresheet for the England U21s during the international break and used that time to reveal his frustrations at club level.

The 21-year-old has struggled to make any impression at Leicester since joining from Birmingham in January 2016 and was heavily linked with a move away during the summer.

Leicester rejected a £25m bid from Bournemouth towards the end of the window and Gray has conceded his time at the King Power Stadium has been frustrating.

“You saw I am frustrated at the amount of football I am getting,” The Daily Mirror quote Gray as saying after England’s 3-0 win over Latvia on Tuesday. “All I can do is talk with my feet.

“I was happy to play for the under-21s. I was happy to score and to contribute to the result. But the reason I didn’t look so happy is because I am so frustrated.

“I want to play every week and I am not at the minute. I have to work to not be disappointed all the time and try to get myself into the team.”

Since joining Leicester, Gray has only started 10 league games and has only mustered 34 minutes of league action spread over three substitute appearances this season.

In fact, since January 2016, Gray has been used as a substitute at least eight more times than any other Premier League player (35).
