Liverpool have entered the race to sign Rennes striker Ousmane Dembele after Jurgen Klopp had encouraging talks with the 18-year-old wonderkid, claims The Guardian.
Dembele, 18, has been linked to just about every big club in Europe in the past few months following his outstanding breakthrough campaign with Rennes this season.
The France Under-21 international has already revealed he will play his last match for Rennes at the weekend despite only signing a long-term deal at the start of the season.
Borussia Dortmund are the frontrunners for the teenagers signature, while Barcelona and Bayern Munich have also scouted Dembele.
However, Liverpool are now reportedly well in the race for his signature after the Frenchman was left impressed with Klopp’s vision for Merseysiders in a discussion over the phone.
Rennes are allegedly demanding any suitor coughs up a fee potentially worth £27.6m for the teenager, who has scored more goals than any other player aged 21 and under across Europe’s top five leagues (12).
