Harry Kane has confirmed that he will remain at Tottenham this season despite intense speculation linking him with a move to Manchester City in recent months.
City are in the market for a new striker following the summer departure of Sergio Aguero and had identified Kane as the ideal replacement for the Argentine.
Kane was keen on a new challenge and the opportunity to link up with Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium, with the opportunity to land silverware on a seasonal basis part of the reason behind his eagerness to move to Manchester.
However, while City lodged a bid of £75m, with a further £25m in add-ons, that offer fell well below Spurs' valuation of the striker with chairman Daniel Levy adament that Kane was going nowhere.
The player himself has since tweeted: "It was incredible to see the reception from the Spurs fans on Sunday and to read some of the messages of support I've had in the last few weeks.
"I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success."
The 28-year-old, who made his first Spurs appearance of the season in their 1-0 win at Wolves on Sunday, is three years into a six-year deal, so the club are under no pressure to sell Kane.
And while the transfer window is open for another six days, Spurs would be reluctant to cash in on Kane with the time required to secure a replacement ahead of next week's transfer deadline.
