Barcelona hope to swap former Premier League star for Tottenham wantaway
Following the reports that Tanguy Ndombele and Jose Mourinho have severed all communication with one another, Barcelona are ready to make Tottenham an interesting offer, according to The Independent.
The France international became Spurs' club record signing last summer but hasn't been able to have the impact he or the club would have liked for a number of reasons.
The 23-year-old has had his injury problems at various points throughout the campaign but it's a rift with manager Mourinho that appears to have left the midfielder out in the cold this year.
While he hadn't cemented a place under former boss Mauricio Pochettino, the Portuguese's appointment has proven to be another setback, with Ndombele starting just five league matches since the change in the hot seat back in November.
Over the course of the season the midfielder has scored two goals - the first of which came on his debut back in August - and registered four assists in all competitions, for a modest 6.90 rating.
That said, Ndombele is still viewed by many in the game as one of the top midfield prospects in Europe and Barcelona's reported interest attests to as much.
The champions of Spain are believed to be keen on the Tottenham wantaway, but only in an exchange deal as pursestrings are tightened across the continent. The players that the Catalan club are thought to be willing to part with in such a deal are right-back Nelson Semedo and former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho.
The latter has spent this season on loan at Bayern Munich but while he has posted some impressive figures in limited playing time - scoring eight goals and registering six assists despite starting just 15 of 22 Bundesliga appearances - the Brazilian is still not settled having struggled to make the desired impact at the Camp Nou.
